We won’t have a society if we destroy the environment – M. Mead
The environment is a central issue for CORE Ireland. We believe that every individual should respect the earth and do our best to limit the damage we cause to our planet.
To take action against environmental deterioration, we have set up our ‘Clean-up project’ in collaboration with our local Access group and County Council.
About The Project:
The project is simple. We ‘clean-up’ areas which are badly littered in our local area, such as beaches, parks, river areas etc.
A group of volunteers from CORE Ireland and the NLN agree on a specific area to clean up that day. We get litter pickers and waste bags from our local county council to help collect the litter.
We take note of all the litter we collect and make sure to dispose of it correctly and efficiently.
It’s a simple job, but it’s extremely beneficial to our environment and community. A lot of waste, especially plastic, does not decompose and thus doesn’t put anything back into the environment. It also causes a huge threat to animal, fish and bird species who may mistake rubbish for food. The litter can impair their breathing or cause awful problems in their digestive systems.
It’s so important that we all do our bit to help the environment.
