My journey to CORE Ireland began with a simple invitation from a friend to volunteer at a homeless shelter. Little did I know, this one-night-a-week commitment would grow into a life-changing passion. After years of helping others, I knew I wanted to make an even bigger impact by pursuing social work. Fast forward to today and I am a
proud member of numerous organisations and committees dedicated to improving mental health services and helping those in need. My volunteer work has led me to where I am today, with a vast network of contacts and experiences that I draw upon every day to make a difference through CORE Ireland.
What inspired the creation of CORE Ireland?
As someone who has volunteered extensively, I can attest to the fact that giving back to others is an incredibly fulfilling experience. In fact, I often found that I was at my best when I was doing something for someone else. After completing my education in social sciences, I wanted to create a platform that would allow others to experience the same benefits of volunteering that I had. And so, CORE Ireland was born.
At CORE Ireland, we believe that everyone has something valuable to offer their community. We strive to create an environment where individuals can give their services for free and feel a sense of purpose and fulfilment. We believe that volunteering not only benefits the community but also the individual, by helping them discover their strengths and abilities, and by fostering friendships and connections with like-minded individuals.

How did CORE Ireland come to be?
CORE Ireland was born out of a desire to combat the issue of anti-social behaviour in Navan. As someone who was deeply concerned about the community, I volunteered to investigate potential solutions. After speaking with organizations around the country, I found inspiration from one in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, which had faced similar problems. With a small group of like-minded volunteers, we started tackling the issue head-on. We began by organizing litter clean-ups, repairing homes, and doing small community projects.
Through these initial projects, we soon realized that food poverty was also a major problem in our community. We began collecting food that local supermarkets would otherwise throw away and distributing it to those in need. As our efforts gained momentum, we decided to take our mission to local schools. We asked students to bring in one food item per month to create awareness about struggling families, particularly children. The response was overwhelming, and we soon expanded our efforts to national and secondary schools, as well as local businesses and groups.
Now, Core Ireland has become a powerful force for good, with members from all walks of
life coming together to make a positive impact on their community. We are not just fighting
anti-social behaviour and food poverty – we are also helping to reduce food waste and create a sense of unity and purpose among our members. Join us today and become a part of something truly special.
What achievements made by Core are you particularly Proud of?
I take great pride in the amazing accomplishments of CORE Ireland. Watching it grow and
expand has been incredible! The Nourish Project is particularly special to me. It began as a
simple idea, but now we deliver up to 40 hampers a week! The donations we receive are so appreciated, and it warms my heart to see how grateful the recipients are. I’m also thrilled about our collaboration with the National Learning Network (NLN). This organisation does outstanding work, and we partner with them to provide work experience for some of their members. The volunteers we have gained through our partnership with NLN are priceless, and we are so grateful for their contributions to Core Ireland’s success.
